Who should attend?
Anyone who will need to create a database or will be in charge of amending and customising an existing database.
Pre-requisites
No previous experience of database programs is required.
Objectives
The course is designed to introduce users to the basics of Access and to enable them to create a database from scratch to include basic input forms, queries and reports.
Course Content
Database Basics
Relational database terminology. Understand tables, records and fields. Access objects.
Tables
Table structure, field properties, primary keys, validation rules, input masks. Table relationships & referential integrity. Filter tables. Join tables. Print table structure details.
Data Entry
Add, edit and delete data. Attach and import tables. Modify table layout.
Queries
Query builder. Select, Parameter, Crosstab and Action queries. Calculations in queries. Sort records.
Forms
Create single column, tabular and main/sub forms using the Form Wizard. Understand the controls. Customise forms using list boxes, combo boxes, check boxes, radio buttons and macro buttons. Filter displayed data.
Reports
Create single column, groups/totals or mailing labels using the Report Wizard. Create calculations. Customise the report. Print and preview reports.
Macros
Macro builder. Create a simple macro to automate tasks. Place a macro on a form.
