Who should attend?
The module will suit all users with little or no experience who wish to learn the rudiments of word processing. The Document Fundamentals module is ideal for introducing the ideas and language of a word processing application.
Pre-requisites
No previous experience of word processing is required.
Objectives
You will learn how to: Create, save & print a document. Navigate the Word screen. Present text that takes advantage of some of the basic word processing tools. Use document proofing tools.
Course Content
Document Basics
Create and edit a simple document. Understand the Word window. Open, close, save a file. Document navigation keys.
Corporate templates
Use the corporate templates for generating standard documents such as a memo, letter or fax.
Document naming conventions
Understand the document storage areas available i.e. local and network drives. Work with long document names and use codes when saving documents.
Format text
Insert, edit, delete text. Enhance text using standard formatting features. Remove formatting. Move & copy text within a document.
Spell check
Spell check the document text. Add words to the dictionary.
Paragraph formatting
Change the alignment, indentation and line spacing within paragraphs. Apply bullet points and numbers.
Printing
Print a document or selected pages. Explore the print options.
