Who should attend?
Anyone who will be using a laptop computer to collect email and access network documents when away from the office.
Pre-requisites
A knowledge of sending and receiving email messages when connected to the corporate network.
Objectives
To use Outlook effectively for sending and receiving email messages when working away from the office. To understand how to make documents on the network available offline.
Course Content
Public folders
Use of the Favorites folder for accessing public folders remotely. Copy a folder to the Favorites area.
Outlook Configuration
Explanation of the offline store and synchronisation process. Inbox assistant rules. Preferred settings in Tools/Options. Dial-up connection properties.
Preparing Outlook prior to leaving the office
Set offline folder availability. Synchronise folders. Download offline address book. Setting an Out of Office autoreply. Hardware required whilst travelling.
Working Offline
Open Outlook in offline mode. Create messages and draft messages offline.
Connecting to the server
Establish a dial-up connection. Send and receive messages when a connection is established. Synchronise mailbox folders. Disconnect the dial-up connection.
Network Documents
Make files / folders available offline. Offline files synchronisation. Speed up working with Office documents when working at another Rio Tinto site.
